My X-ray showed I have a bone spur on my heel. Is the pain in my heel coming from this spur?

The idea that heel spurs cause pain is no longer accepted by most health experts. In people who have heel pain, only 50 percent ever have a spur, and spurs are found in 15 percent of people who have no symptoms at all. The pain may be felt in the same area as the spur, but the pain is believed to come from the inflammation in the soft tissues near the spur.
