What are the advantages of a bone graft from your own body over a bone graft from a donor?

Whenever anything is placed inside your body, you react to it. Your body reads the new piece as an intruder and forms antibodies to try to get rid of it. In this case, if bone from a donor is used, the body could reject it, causing more problems in the long run. However, if a surgeon uses bone from your own body, this isn't a foreign substance and your body shouldn't turn on it. Therefore, the body can concentrate on healing rather than fighting.
