My cousin's son was diagnosed with Blount's disease. I thought it was rare but then I learned of a coworker whose daughter has it too. So is it more common than I thought?

Blount's disease, also called tibia vara, isn't a common disease. It's a disorder of the shin bone (the tibia) and it causes the tibia to bend, much like it might if a child was bowlegged. But, in Blount's disease, the deformity continues unless something is done to fix it. Although it isn't common, it's not rare either, and it is seen more often in children who are overweight and/or of African American descent.
