Slipped capital femoral epiphysis is a condition that affect the hip. It occurs when the top of the femur (thigh bone) slips backwards and out of place. It most often affect teens, likely just after a growth spurt, around when puberty hits. The disorder does affect more boys than girls and for some reason, African Americans are affected more often than caucasians.
