FAQI just came back from the hospital where my five-year-old niece is being treated for an infected knee joint. They have no idea how she got this but say it can be treated with antibiotics. It's some kind of a staph infection. Is there danger that it could be that new MRSA infection I hear about? Matt03 weeks 1 day ago
FAQI started to experience muscle pain and weakness when I was in my mid-40s. Our old town doc told me to take calcium pills with vitamin D and it would go away. Sure enough it did. Now, 20 years later, I see this is the headline news in the health industry. What is it exactly that vitamin D does for muscles? Matt03 weeks 1 day ago
FAQOur ten-year-old daughter developed cellulitis that went to the bone. She's in the hospital for treatment. We're trying to figure out how serious this is and how long she might be hospitalized. We both work full-time and need to make arrangements. What can you tell us? Matt03 weeks 1 day ago
FAQI had low Vitamin D levels because I take seizure medication. At least that's what the doctor told me. I heard that I could go to a tanning booth and get all the vitamin D I need. I thought tanning booths were taboo. What's the scoop on this? Matt03 weeks 1 day ago
FAQI've been restricted from playing baseball (or any other sport) for the next six weeks (up to six months) because I have something called OCD. I'm not allowed to throw a ball, do any weight lifting, or even carry a heavy backpack in that hand. What are my chances that this will work? And what if it doesn't? Matt03 weeks 1 day ago
FAQOur 14-year-old son has been battling an elbow problem since he was 11. It's called osteochondritis dissecans. He's been in and out of therapy for that time, and he's had two surgeries that didn't work. A new surgeon in town has suggested trying something called mosaicplasty. What can you tell us about this procedure? Matt03 weeks 1 day ago
FAQOur grandson was born six weeks ago with a clubfoot deformity. He is being treated at a physical therapy clinic where they move his foot and hold it in a corrected position and then put a cast on it for awhile. This is an awkward question, but the therapist looks like he's just out of high school. How can we be sure he really knows what he's doing? We don't want to be overbearing grandparents, but we're concerned. Matt03 weeks 1 day ago
FAQI'm really nervous that I might have screwed up with my baby. She was born with a clubfoot on the right side. The pediatrician sent me to a special clinic where they teach parents how to stretch the foot and use elastic tape to hold it in place. There's a little splint she wears over the tape, too. I think I've done everything right, but the foot isn't getting better. This is my first baby and I want her to be perfect. How much longer should I wait before I say something to the doctor? FAQI had a CT-scan that confirmed my worst fears: a herniated disc in my neck. The surgeons are talking about fusion versus maybe trying a disc replacement. I'm going in for more tests to see which treatment might work best for me. How do these two operations stack up against one another? Would you recommend one over the other? Matt03 weeks 1 day ago
FAQI was one of the first people in our area to have a disc replacement for a herniated disc that was pressing on my spinal cord. That was five years ago. So far, so good. They did warn me that anything could happen -- I could end up with the implant pressing on the cord or another disc going bad above or below the implant. I like to keep up on this technology, should I ever need another one. What's the latest? Matt03 weeks 1 day ago
FAQI've heard that the younger you are when you have ACL surgery, the worse the results. Why is that? I'm 23, need ACL surgery, and want the best results possible. Matt03 weeks 1 day ago
FAQMy doctor diagnosed me with a chronic tendon problem in the groin. After months of monkeying around with stretching and strengthening exercises, I finally had a steroid injection. It worked great -- for about two months. Now the pain is back again. Should I have a second injection? There were a lot of warnings about too much steroid and how it could cause its own tendon damage. Matt03 weeks 1 day ago
FAQI've been training for a triathlon for three months now. All of a sudden, I've pulled up lame with groin pain. Can I safely work through the pain? If I keep training, how do I modify my workouts? Matt03 weeks 1 day ago
FAQI thought I had a successful ACL repair until I landed back in the hospital with an infection. I ended up having a second surgery. Does this happen very often? I have several friends and acquaintances who have had this same operation without any problems. Matt03 weeks 1 day ago

FAQI am an avid bowler on two different adult leagues. But my bowling average has gone way down since I developed carpal tunnel syndrome. I heard from another bowler that there's a way a therapist can bend my elbow and hand to get these painful symptoms to stop. What is it called and where can I get it? Matt04 weeks 1 day ago
FAQI just had the most amazing experience. After suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome for three years, I saw a hand therapist who put my arm and hand through a series of positions and movements. It hurt while she was doing it but today, I am completely pain free for the first time. Can you explain how this treatment works? Matt04 weeks 1 day ago
