FAQWhen I get stressed, I get very nauseated and may throw up. My doctor says it's in my head, but it seems very real to me. I don't do it on purpose. Is it really all in my head? Matt02 weeks 2 days ago
FAQI have chronic pain in my back that no-one has been able to diagnose. I know some doctors say it's in my head, particularly because it hurts more when I'm stressed. What can I do? Matt02 weeks 2 days ago
FAQHow do doctors decide if a pain is real or imaginary if there's no proof, like a broken bone, or something? Matt02 weeks 2 days ago
FAQI am a physical therapist and a certified hand therapist. I work in a large clinic that treats just upper extremity problems. We have a fair number of patients with cubital tunnel syndrome who end up having surgery. We are looking for a valid tool to use to measure patient satisfaction before and after treatment. Are you a familiar with anything like that? Matt02 weeks 2 days ago
FAQWhat's the best way to treat cubital tunnel syndrome? I've had this condition for two years and finally have time to deal with it. Matt02 weeks 2 days ago
FAQMy 10-year-old niece is in the hospital having her knee drained because of an infection in the joint. They said it usually clears up with one session of drainage. She'll be on antibiotics for awhile. What if it doesn't clear up? Then what? Matt02 weeks 2 days ago
FAQPlease help us -- our seven-year-old grandson has septic arthritis of the hip. He's been hospitalized for treatment. There's a real concern about the infection going into the bone. What would cause this to happen? Can we do anything? How likely is it? I'm just so worried, I can't think straight. Matt02 weeks 2 days ago
FAQI watched as my sister got a steroid injection into her knee at the doctor's office. I'm a little doubtful that they can really know the medication is going into the knee. Shouldn't they be doing this with some kind of X-ray or something? Matt02 weeks 2 days ago
FAQMy neighbor has knee arthritis real bad. She asked me for advice about getting steroid injections. I've never tried them for my arthritis. I seem to get along just fine with tylenol or sometimes ibuprofen. But I told her I would check with you since I find all my other information here. What do you recommend? Matt02 weeks 2 days ago
FAQIn our community, there is a special digitized computer that can be used to measure scoliosis. We have some baseline X-rays already taken of our 11 year-old daughter with this problem. The computerized method costs more. Is it more accurate? Matt02 weeks 2 days ago
FAQEvery time we take our daughter in for scoliosis checks, a different person reads the X-rays. Wouldn't it be better if just one person measured and remeasured her? I just don't trust that the changes we are being told are present aren't because of the way the measurements are taken. Matt02 weeks 2 days ago
FAQThe orthopedic surgeon I saw at the clinic last week says I have a type I SLAP tear. It's in my left shoulder. Thankfully, I am right-handed. But I can't figure out how I got this because I haven't fallen down or done anything to hurt myself (that I remember, of course). How do these things develop? Matt02 weeks 2 days ago
FAQI used to be a pretty good ball player but I haven't picked up a baseball in 25 years. During a family reunion, I was the pitcher for our team. Oh boy -- my shoulder has been pretty ouchy ever since. Do I wait it out or is it better to see someone right away? I can't decide. Matt02 weeks 2 days ago
FAQWe took our son to a specialty clinic for surgery on his knees because he was extremely bow-legged. There's a special name for this condition (Blount disease). That was last year. Now this year, they have sent him a questionnaire to fill out about his pain, satisfaction level, and function. He's only nine years old! How can he answer questions about his satisfaction with the surgery or his quality of life? Matt02 weeks 2 days ago
FAQWe are making decisions for our six-year-old daughter that she will have to live with for the rest of her life. She has a condition called Blount disease (bow legs) and may need surgery. Is there any information on how these kids feel about their results years later (like when they are adults)? Matt02 weeks 2 days ago
FAQMy new grandbaby has a dislocated hip. I guess he was born that way. They are not sure if this is a genetic thing or if he got into a bad position inside the womb. In any case, since it's only one side, will it heal up better than if both hips were affected? Matt02 weeks 2 days ago
FAQOur baby has a hip problem they want us to use an ugly old harness thing to hold his legs apart. Do we really need to do this? Won't he outgrow this problem? It looks like some kind of torture device. Matt02 weeks 2 days ago
