Proximal Row Carpectomy for S.L.A.C. wrist- Outcome for Sports
Posted December 9th, 2008 by melibelIn a few weeks I'll go through the PRC for SLAC wrist.
I'm interested in the practical outcome of the operation, especially for sports.
I've read about “30% mobility up and down, 0% to 10% lateral mobility…etc”…but practically what can you really do after the PRC.
Will I be able to play squash, volley ball, badminton, weight lifting, karate, bicycle (now I can’t even lean on my handle bar)…do push ups..or even shake hands painlessly?
Thanks for taking time in sharing your experience and knowledge.

Proximal Row Carpectomy questions
Posted October 12th, 2008 by aford80I am having the PRC surgery in November and I am trying to research it as much as possible and what I'm seeing scares the crap out of me. I broke my wrist in Feb. and had 1 surgery in June and have been in physical therapy since march but nothing has helped. I'm in pain all the time and pretty much have very little movement. Worst of all this is my dominant hand. Has anyone gone through this and what can I expect??
Thank you for any response.

Intersection Syndrome
Posted July 24th, 2008 by CarpenterIt seems this is the problem I have, I'll try to be brief.
A couple of days in at a new job I developed swelling a few inches up from my wrist at the location described by the syndrome. With no pain at the time I thought little of it and continued working (lifting, hammering)
After a couple more days the swelling went down and a creaking at the spot of swelling started, when I bend the wrist, along with minor pain. There was no discolouration. A general mild swelling of my hand I noticed at that time.
Wrist fusion with remaining pain in naviculare + Pisiform or triangular bone area pain
Posted July 23rd, 2008 by smee00Dear Sir Madam
I had an accident in 2002, Os naviculare-Fracture & Distal Radius Fracture which was first treated conservatively and then with later with screws & external metalwork after it moved.
I have had severe chronic pain (CRPS1) for 6 years, and this has lead to the following operation.
I recently had a wrist fusion to my left wrist and at the 6 week point I found out that the wrist was not in the position that was expected (now neutral position).
