Symptoms in lower extremeties related to neck???
Posted March 25th, 2009 by itsonlymeI had hx of what felt like upper/lower left sided trapezius pain for a # years with keyboarding or repetitive activities. Also left shoulder pain with repetitive activities and inability to sleep on left side since 2005. In 2006 symptoms increased and I also began to experience an intermittent sensation of throbbing or swelling (without heat/redness or acute type of pain) in my left knee. MRI of knee negative. About 6 months after knee symptoms I noticed my left foot felt tighter in my shoe and began to experience same type of throbbing or pulsing sensation in foot.
3 level ACDF/new C1-2 OA?
Posted February 28th, 2009 by sk.8.aprnOriginally had C5-6 ACDF, 3 years later needed 2 more levels done for significant spondylo and retrolithesis of C3-4,C4-5, plus herniated discs at those levels. Was told the cervical ligaments were so lax that fusion was urgent.
Now 2 yrs later, developed significant upper neck pain (before it was arm pain only) that didn't respond to NSAIDs, ROM exercises, etc. Went to new Ortho spine doc and Xrays show significant arthritis at C1-2, told to stop ROM exercises and just do comfort measures. I'm 62, use my head ROM a lot in my job. Have the usual OA in hands.
LOSS OF NORMAL LORDOSIS WITH MILD OSTEOPOROSIS AND POSSIBLE C6-C7 DISC LESION.
Posted February 15th, 2009 by bithikaMy mother (age - 56) appears to be hunching recently. She consulted a doctor of medicine. She had her X-Ray taken of the Cervical and Lumbar spine. The doctors main diagnosis was
"LOSS OF NORMAL LORDOSIS WITH MILD OSTEOPOROSIS AND POSSIBLE C6-C7 DISC LESION".
(detailed report attached below)
Doctor prescribed the following medicines
1.CHELCAL 500
2.TAB OSTEOPHOS 70:1 TABLET
My mother is also mildly diabetic and I wanted to discuss whether medicines is the right way to go. Has anyone come across a similar problem? Can there be chiropractic or physical therapy solutions.
S/I joint shift
Posted October 11th, 2008 by CliffyI have found plenty of information about S/I joint dysfunction, but not much on S/I joint shift. What is the treatment coarse and expected recovery time of an S/I joint shift.
C5 Palsy
Posted October 8th, 2008 by kywwolfeMy husband had a cervical laminectomy in 2006. We were told it would take some time to regain his range of motion in his arm and the numbness and tingling to subside. Since it did not we looked into pain management. After having steroid injections in the neck the pain subsided for a short time. After seeing the neuro surgeon again we were told that he has C5 palsy. Can you tell me exactly what this is? Is another operation needed.
elbow pain
Posted September 11th, 2008 by marydee55I suffered a back and neck injury after a rear end car collision. WE were struck from behind as we were sitting still. Now 2 months later I am still having pain especially in my left arm mainly in my elbow. I cannot straighten oput my arm or get a full grip. It hurts to carry anything in that arm or hand.
I have had xrays, and an MRI done. The majority of the damage according to my orthopod is in my c4, c5 and c6. Now he wants me to see a neurosurgeon. Physical therapy has not worked. Infact it made things worse.
Old Fracture
Posted August 16th, 2008 by NancyinMTMy husband has had Parkinson Disease for 27 years and lately his neck has been twisted to the side. He was being evaluated for Deep Brain Stimulation surgery when they questioned his neck. After having a CAT scan they found an old fracture. The facet on C5 is fractures and C5 and C6 is locked. He needs to have this repaired before we can continue with the DBS surgery. The surgeon said he would take out the bones, try to unlock them, replace with a shaped bone and a plate to stablize. Would love some explanation on this procedure.
Cervical spine fusion vs. disk replacement
Posted July 31st, 2008 by rweaverI have had a couple of lumbar discectomies (L4/L5 and L5/S1). In both cases I could trace these problems to specific injuries. Six weeks ago, I dove into a wave at the beach and felt a slight tweaking and got a stiff neck from it. I have also had pain radiating down my left arm, which particularly bothers me at night. Yesterday, I was at my dr.'s office looking at the MRI and to my surprise he said I need yet another surgery to treat the pain. Here is the radiologist's report on C5/C6 for the MRI:

Three years ago when I was exercising in a Parallel bar, I had a jerk on my left shoulder and it was a mild.
I used to get nominal pain during winter and it has developed now.
Through I was doing regular exercise to my neck and shoulder. Now when I consulted the doctor and took x-ray for cervical spine. The result is as follows:
Straighterning of cervial spine is seen
Mild anterior osteophytes are seen at C5 level
Vertebrae and intervertebral disc space are normal.
Alignment is normal.
Prevetebral soft tissues are normal
Spinal fusions -- chronic pain
Posted June 19th, 2008 by nolesfanI was born with a spinal condition called Klippel-Feil Syndrome (KFS), which basically means at least 2 levels in my neck were fused from birth. People with KFS tend to have a myriad of other spine problems, too, and that is the case with me. I'm 46 years old and am now fused from C2 - T4 (C2-C3 is congenital) and from T11-S5. I am in chronic pain, but have managed to stay mobile which I think has helped keep the pain at a lower level.
