Knee Pain - Patello Femoal Syndrome
Posted March 10th, 2009 by RachD32yr old Mother of Two living in Co. Meath. For the last number of years I have had slight pain in my knees front & back when climbing the stairs and sitting for too long. Then in October 2008 I increased my activity going walking 3-4 times a week 40mins each session. A couple of weeks later I woke one morning to find chronic pain in both knees and I was unable to walk. I went to visit my GP who refered me for a MRI Scan.
Is a second acl reconstruction worth it even though my knee has moderate arthritis?
Posted February 15th, 2009 by geanereanxxI had an acl reconstruction around 1990. However, my acl was injured about 10 years before that when acl's weren't being reconstructed, and the surguries required much cartilage removal. In fact, I've had 5 surgeries in all on the knee which included 2 more scopes for torn cartilage after the acl recon. About 5 years ago I found out that my acl had somehow worn away. My surgeon at that time told me not to bother with another reconstruction and told me to continue my normal exercise protocol and fitted me with a brace since I'm very athletic and like to ski, etc.
Left knee pain/cramping sensation
Posted February 3rd, 2009 by Lucky LilOn the backside of my left knee it feels like it wants to cramp and hurts, it is not overwhelmingly painful but it's noticeable. There's no swelling that I can tell and it's not hot to the touch.
I was once told that I had Patellar Femoral Syndrome (?) and that there was probably a "floater" in my knee.
When I walk for exercise my knee pops and catches and I cannot walk for very long as it becomes more and more noticeable the more I do it. I haven't had it give way or anything like that, well not yet anyway.
Questions about my knee injury?
Posted January 29th, 2009 by will1066I work as a corrections officer in a state prison. And I injured my left knee in 2 separate incidents. One in July, which I continued to work after. And the last in September. And I`ve been off from work since. On both incidents, I hit my knee hard on a concrete floor tackling inmates that were fighting with staff. I treated with a workers compensation panel doctor for the initial 90 days required by law here. He did x-rays, no MRI. And told me I needed athroscopic surgery. According to his surgical notes.

Slipped Meniscus
Posted December 20th, 2008 by RickWorthMy right lateral meniscus has slipped out a bit. My chiro suggested I push it back into place by pressing that area hard and downward (toward my ankle) repeatedly... it hurts a lot, but it does seem to feel a bit better after I do this, but the pain eventually comes back shortly... does anyone know the pros and cons of this suggestion?
Still experiencing knee pain and swelling 2 years after accident
Posted December 5th, 2008 by ScoobyJCHello,
I need help finding out what could be wrong with my R leg and knee.
I slipped off of a loading dock around April 2007 injuring might R leg. When I slipped off, the R side of my leg at the knee took the weight of the fall, which was about 3-4 feet. The bruising stretched from about halfway between my ankle and knee, up to around halfway between my knee and waist, with swelling all the way around my knee. The x-rays showed no broken bones.
best resourse?
Posted November 20th, 2008 by kurt_dipaoloMy 19-year-old son has torn his ACL a second time (same knee) in about 2 years. Our orthopedist has recommended "redo" surgery and avoidance after surgery of the sports my son loves -- football, soccer, bball, skiing.
1. Is this our only recourse--surgery and avoiding contact sports? (I have read that the second surgery is not always as effective as the primary.)
2. If this is our best route, would a knee brace help protect the knee?
3. Would it be worth seeking a 2nd opinion?
