Hand
My hand is in constant pain
Posted December 2nd, 2008 by mayberry27So, I was attacked about a year ago.. and lucky enough to have insurance at the time (lucky enough to live to tell about it). My hands and fingers fingers had been cut in an attempt to ward of my attacker and my tendons were severed in 3 of my fingers. I did have surgery to fix them.. and didn't do much in the way of therapy (I had lost my job as a result of my hopitilization) and could not afford the co-pays. I am now insurance-less.. and my hand is stuck in this claw. It hurts.. I can type.. but.. am wondering if I can get an additional surgery done to get my normal fingers back?

Wrist lump and pain, swollen fingers, overall weakness - looking for answers
Posted October 25th, 2008 by wvjdI'm a 39 year old female. Pretty active, always involved in sports and never had any problems really, until this last year.
My symptoms started a couple years ago, my left index finger would feel and look like it lost circulation - it would turn white in color and get cold and tingle. It would come and go.....every once and awhile....I attributed it to maybe getting frostbite sometime in the past.
finger tendon injury... need advice
Posted August 28th, 2008 by mat633My doctor told me I tore my flexor digitorum profundus of my ring finger. He said I will no longer be able to move my first knuckle on this finger but I would still have most of the important function of my hand and finger. He said surgery is possible but not vital for this type of injury. He actually discouraged me from getting surgery. I would just like to get a second opinion. Right now, it's been 4 months since my injury and my whole ring finger is still a bit swollen. I can bend the 2nd knuckle but not completely. The 1st knuckle is stiff and immovable.
Improving Backward Bending of Fingers
Posted August 25th, 2008 by daygo140I am learning how to play an acoustic guitar. I've been playing for 4 or so weeks now. The reason I am coming here to the site and posting is because I really would like to improve the backward bending of fingers, particularly my ring finger.
Are there any exercises, methods, or minerals/foods/pills to give this sort of backward bending ability to my finger?
limited thumb movement after tendon transposition
Posted August 21st, 2008 by jbophI fell and fractured my wrist - a minimally displaced fx of distal radius. 3 wks after the injury, while in a cast, I noticed that I could not extend the distal joint of my thumb. I thought it was just stiffness due to the cast and the swelling. At my orthopod appt 2 wks later I mentioned it to my doctor. He knew it was an EPL tendon rupture and promptly repaired it by transposition of the IPL tendon. That was 4 mos ago. With physical therapy I have regained partial extension of the thumb. I can extend the distal joint only when my thumb is folded across my palm.
Knee-replacement and associated numbness and weakness in the index and pinky fingers of the left hand
Posted August 17th, 2008 by ajmerMy mother recently had knee-replacement surgery on both knees. A short while after, she felt severe pains in both her shoulders shooting down her hands. Now she is left with numbness and weakness in her pinky and index fingers of the left hand and she isn't able to straighten her fingers. She is still recovering from the knee operation. The right knee feels normal. However, she feels a slight obsruction and heaviness in her left knee when she walks.
Severed tendon of hand/thumb and 85% second tendon tear of hand/thumb
Posted July 29th, 2008 by KristalDHI caught my hand in a water-jet at work and it sliced through 2 tendons. I had surgery to repair the tendons on the 24th of July. I was wondering how much movement I will recover?

Fractured Radius left wrist
Posted July 5th, 2008 by porterI fell off my mountain bike & fractured my right wrist six weeks ago . I still have a hard time moving my fingers and my arm. I am in a splint for another 4 weeks. when ever I try to move my fingers side to side or apart I get extreme pain through my whole hand, wrist, and up my arm. Also when I try to close my fingers all the way I can't. It doesn't hurt I just can't do it. I have been working on moving my fingers and using my arm every day doesn't seem to be getting any easier or better. Is this normal or could there be something else wrong.
