Ligament Tumors

in

My family doctor told me that I have tumors on the ligaments that run along the top of my foot. If I'm on my feet for a while, they swell to where you can actually see where they are. When they're swollen, they can be very painful if I move my foot the wrong way. It has really affected the range of motion in my foot/ankle. Does anyone know if there's anything I can do besides surgery?

Swolllen foot

in

I recently had lung surgery (15 days ago). About seven days after surgery, while in the hospital bed bound, my right foot started hurting. I had plantar facitis in the past and thought the problem was from not wearing shoes for the past 7 days. I was in bed for a total of 11 days with restricted movement. The day after I left the hospital the bottom of my right foot swelled and I can barely walk on it. I tried foot massage and a cold pack but neither helped. I currently have an ace bandage to see if restriction helps. I'm assuming the problem is inflamation.

Sever Pain in what I think is the adductor hallucis

in

I have a sever pain in what I think to be the adductor hallucis. Nonetheless, it is the area just behind the ball of my foot in my arch area, on the inside of my foot. It has been hurting off and on for about 6 weeks. Sometimes it hurts so bad that I can't walk. Is there any chance that this could be from hanging out in a pool? And over using my toes in a way that I would never use them outside of a pool? No matter what, what is the best way to treat this? If is a muscle, how do I nurse it back to health?

Joint pain where big toe meets metatarsals

in

A few days ago the joint where my big toe and the metatarsals meet began to ache. I don't recall stubbing my toe, though it's perfectly possible. I haven't been running or doing any kind of heavy exercise lately.

Now I have limited movement; it is painful to try and flex the toe upwards, though downwards isn't nearly as bad. Also, putting weight on the ball of my foot is very painful. The pain is consistent, and only disperses when I take aspirin and put ice on it.

foot pain(outside right and bottom right side)

in

hi there,

i have been having some pain on the outter right side and underneath my foot.
it noticed it in the last 10 miles of a 50 mile race i ran last weekend.

i only feel the pain when i run. walking has gives little to no pain.
i was told it might be a peroneal tendon strain. however the symptoms dont match up.
the pain stays on the outter right side of my right foot and the pain can be felt underneath too.

any ideas?

Weak ankle tendons

in

I have a history of foot problems. I have had bunion surgery on both feet. The problem is that my tendons do not support my ankle bones. I have had, for the past 6 years - constant ankle pain. It seems to go from foot to foot and outside to inside. Once one side is feeling better the other side or foot begins to hurt. I wear orthodics. The 2 specialists I have seen have suggested that I walk as little as possible and that there is not much that they can do.

Posterior Tibial Tendon Rupture

in

I recently tore my posterior tibial tendon resulting from over-aggressive professional physical therapy (on or about March 6th), following a surgery attempt to regenerate the same partially torn tendon using topaz injections (?) back in December. I visited a podiatrist for surgery measures, but he is not appearing to want to move quickly to initiate surgery. My foot /ankle is currently inside a boot (with an orthotic arch underneath my foot).

Hot Feet

in

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone else had expereinced hot feet at night while they were trying to sleep?

My mother has been diagnoised with morton's neuroma in both her feet and although her feet are hot during the day, she is now increasingly starting to get painful feet as well.

Mainly, I find it strange that my mum's feet get hot at night, when she is not on them! they get so hot she cannot sleep.

I'm not sure if this is the neuroma but would appreciate anyone thoughts/experiences.

Thank you,
emma

Strained Lateral plantar fascia??

in

I hope this is a good place to post a question like this... if not, please let me know.

I went running on Monday for the first time in a long while. The run was for 4 miles. At the end of the run, my foot felt really sore around the area of the lateral plantar fascia. Not sure if that is really what is strained, but that is the area of where the pain is. That afternoon my foot felt more sore and to this day continues to be sore.

Posterior tibial tendon repair/recovery time

in

I have a torn posterior tibial tendon. It was torn about 10 years ago. I am scheduled to have surgery Dec. 14, 2007.
The repair will include tendon transfer, bone graft, pins and possible scraping of arthritis from a joint.
I am a self employed bricklayer. My job includes heavy lifting, walking on uneven ground, climing up and down scaffold and all the other enjoyable things bricklayers get to do.

I told my surgeon I have 3 months maximum to recover from this surgery. He told me that would be a minimum but it could be done.
