Broken thumb in 21 month old

My poor little man (almost 21 months) has broken his thumb. His big brother accidentally closed it in the hall door on Monday night and the GP has told us he is 99% sure it is broken. He said there was no point getting an x-ray as there is nothing that can be done for a broken thumb. He said it will heal in time and we have tape to strap his thumb up with.

My question is: Is there really nothing that can be done? I don't want it to heal wrong and end up causing him dramas down the track. What should we be doing for a broken thumb?

Thanks Renee

Tarsal Coalition

My 14 yr old son was just diagnosed with tarsal coalition (Talocalcaneal coalition) by an Orthopedic (Sports ankle specialist). A CT scan was done and I have felt very comfortable with him. He explained to us that surgery was the best option since my son is an avid cross country and track runner. My question is, should we be getting a second option from a pediatric ortho?

Removing screws after hip surgery

My 2 1/2 year old daughter had surgery to correct her hip dysplasia with a plate and 3 screws. She has recovered and everything is fine now. The doctor recommends that we remove the plate and screws now, but he says that not all surgeons recommend this procedure so the choice is up to us. I am just looking for advice to take the screws and plate out or leave them in. Help!!
