numbness and pulled calf muscles
Posted January 6th, 2009 by JacknolaI've had increasing numbness, tingling, hot sensations in the right foot, ankle, lower leg. During a stress test the cardiologist said it was not circulatory related. Note my previous post about the strange "blister" beneath my fibula on right ankle.
3-5 years ago, I was had to curtail running due to multiple lower-calf pulled muscles. They occur suddenly, preceeded by a cramp-like tightening in either calf, after about 2 miles of running, regardless of pace. Treating by stretching, toe raises, has not materially helped.
"sac" blister below Fibula
Posted January 6th, 2009 by JacknolaA “sac” has formed in my right ankle below the end of the fibula. It periodically bulges the skin surface like a blister before rupturing. This results in a clear, highly viscous fluid being extruded. The “blister” stings like a bee until the fluid is extruded. Then it subsides, though the scab and some soreness remains. The process is repeated about every two weeks.
Any help appreciated.

Peroneal tendonitis
Posted December 27th, 2008 by philo-pbI have (I think) peroneal tendonitis that will not go away. A year ago I slightly rolled my ankle while trail running, and strained my peroneal tendon. Despite two separate layoffs of 4 months (immediately afterward) and 3 months (most recently) since that time, the soreness persists. It's not noticeable while walking, or even jogging at an easy pace; but after 2-3 miles at a moderate pace, the pain returns. I stretch frequently and already do on a regular basis most of the stretches recommended for PT for this issue. Why is this still hanging around???
Question about Arizona Brace
Posted December 24th, 2008 by CardionanHello!
I'm new here but recently diagnosed with calcanealnavicular coalition in my right ankle. I've had 3 surgeries (peroneal tendon repair, screw removal, tumor removal) on it BEFORE my current doc saw the coalition on my very first visit with him. The other doc missed it three times.... frustrating.
I'm 40 years old and all the non-surgical remedies seem to be geared more toward kids. My doc recommended that I get an Arizona Brace. He said I don't need surgery until it gets to the point that it affects my quality of life.
Why did my doc give me a cheap camwalker when the best one is the same cost to me?
Posted December 22nd, 2008 by kingtronskyI need a castboot for a broken ankle, and my doctor will be giving me one in a week that looks flimsy. Someone told me that doctors make more profit from a cheap boot than from a better one because all boots get reimbursed the same amount by insurances but there is a big difference in cost to the doctor between a good one and a cheap one.
Pilon fracture and ankle arthroplasty
Posted December 6th, 2008 by John784I am 30 years old and 6 months ago i had a pilon fracture. My tibia's lower end broke in several pieces so they had to be held in place by an external fixator hybrid. I had it on for 105 days.
A month later, as i was feelling ready to start pressing my leg and walk, i did it. I was walking preety normally for a week, but one day i felt so much pain i couldn't even get up from bed. My doctor told me to stay in bed and take counterirritant pills. Since then i use crutches and whenever i try to apply some more weight or walk, i feel the same pain.
unkown ankle pain year and 1/2 post surgery
Posted November 17th, 2008 by MelI had surgery in May of '07 to repair a subluxing peroneal tendon-the retinaculum repair. I played a season of club soccer (about 2 practices and one game per week) after being cleared the fall of '07, then high school varsity soccer with very little pain most of the time. If it was sore, the pain disappeared within an hour or two after I iced my ankle down and relaxed. This fall ('08) I played D3 college soccer and spent 3 months limping around campus. The drs haven't found anything in the MRI or X-Ray and can't really give me an answer to why I was in so much pain during our season.
Bone Spur and Exercise
Posted November 15th, 2008 by LuLa05I seem to have two bone spurs on my left foot. One began when I trained for a half-marathon and no longer hurts. The other one is just below my inner ankle and began after running frequent short-distances (3-4 miles). This is clearly inflamed and is painful when I run (and often times when I'm just doing normal walking).
Would walking fast be less stressful on this part of my foot? I don't want to stop running, but if this is what is causing the problem I don't have a lot of choice. How can I stay active without continuing to be in pain?
