moderate supraspinatus and infraspinatus tendinosis

7 Months ago, I had problem bowling in cricket (something similar to baseball pitching). Initially the doc suspected that I might have something called as "tendon" impingement. I was given anit-inflammatory. The condition didn't improve and I still had pains when my arm is raised above my head to pitch. [ Bowling has a full arm rotation for pitching]

The doc then suspected that I might have a tear in the rotatory cuff and MRI was done. The MRI says that I've "moderate supraspinatus and infraspinatus tendinosis". So I got a cortisone shot to the shoulder.

After reading some articles here, found out that "tendinosis" and "tendinitis" mean different things. The first one says that I've a degeneration of the tendon without inflammation and the second one says that its inflammation.

Now I wonder whether the cortisone shot that I took would help in the case of tendinosis. Some of the questions that crop in the mind: Am I getting old to play? will this ever get to my normal? Should I get a surgery done?

I've been doing streching and strengthening of the rotaroy cuff and deltoid muscles all along.

Appreciate any views you might have on this.

Thanks,
-Sudhi.
