torn ligament/neuroma
If anyone has any similar problems and can advise on the length of time to heal that would be appreciated.
I had surgery May 23, 2008 for a torn ligament which is kind of at the top of the foot, it is underneath another ligament. I also had a neuroma which is near the 3rd and 4th toes.
The doctor put some sort of "anchor" from the ligament to the ankle, and for the neuroma problem he cut the tendon in that area.
Was in cast for 3 weeks, next boot for 3 weeks, but no weightbearing. I have only recently been able to start walking on it. When I do for more than 5 to 10 minutes, I get swelling of the toes and top of foot near the toes.
The ligament "anchor" has restricted how I am able to stand on the foot. To put complete weight on it is very uncomfortable and my knee is pushed back, not a normal way to stand on it but the only way right now.
I was wondering if anyone has any insight on the length of time to fully recover from this. I get around with the boot on the foot and use a crutch for extra support. Still haven't been able to drive as it is my right foot that is affected.
It is so hard to not be able to do a whole lot, and if I do -- like even standing in the kitchen to cook then my foot starts throbbing. I also have some purpleish coloring after putting weight on the foot. The only time it looks like normal coloring is first thing in the morning.
Patience is definitley a virtue in this situation.
Any responses would be greatly appreciated!!
