Wrist fusion with remaining pain in naviculare + Pisiform or triangular bone area pain
Dear Sir Madam
I had an accident in 2002, Os naviculare-Fracture & Distal Radius Fracture which was first treated conservatively and then with later with screws & external metalwork after it moved.
I have had severe chronic pain (CRPS1) for 6 years, and this has lead to the following operation.
I recently had a wrist fusion to my left wrist and at the 6 week point I found out that the wrist was not in the position that was expected (now neutral position).
1. If the wrist had been elevated the 10 degrees which I wanted would I find that doing the following tasks would be easier?
Sleeping(wrist hurts when out stretched on bed), Climbing ladders, using measuring equipment, computer design work, using a drawing board at 45 degrees, cycling, using fitness equipment, cooking, having sex in the missionary pos.
2. Can I still have it reset if the tasks would be easier, I know there is a metal pin which goes from my knuckle to my Radius?
I would also like to know what a surgeon can do about the following pain, as I cannot get any sense out of my hospital, and attempts to speak to the surgeon have been fruitless so far?
I still have pain where the naviculare bone is, and is provoked by repetitive thumb movements, and also pain on the opposite side where I can feel the Pisiform or triangular bone. The naviculare pain is the pain that causes most pain at the moment
3. What can be done about this pain, the doctor I saw was ignorant, and would not discuss this pain so soon after the wrist fusion, even though I have been suffering with chronic hand pain for 6 years in different areas of my wrist. I am now 3 months post op and have remaining pain in the 2 untreated areas?
I would be greatful if you could throw any light on my questions, as I need to get back to work ASAP, I havent worked since 2002!
