TLIF
Hi,
Almost 2 1/2 years ago I had Laminectomy Disectomy. Everything went fine, all the pain existed before was not there anymore. But a few months ago I started experiencing sever leg pain associated with tingling and numbness. I went to see my Dr. and he recommended and MRI which revealed that I had a recurrent herniation. He suggested surgery immediately. I was reluctant to undergo a second open back surgery, so I asked for a second opinion.
I went to see a new Dr. and he recommended a second MRI. The result was shocking, I had two herniation l4,l5 & sl, the nerve root curved like a ball between the two herniation along with slipped vertebrae. Apparently my previous Dr. did not tell me everything, also my spine was shifted a little to the left side.
My new Dr. recommended TLIF, at first I was scepticle but I couldn't continue to bare the pain anymore so I went for it. I did the surgery 4 weeks ago, everything seems fine. I am taking less medication, I am not driving as yet, and refused to go to work until 6 weeks post-op. I do have a brace, I do not need the cane anymore. I am however an Aerobic, Yoga, Personal Trainer and Pilate Instructor, also a Figure Competitor. I do have a competition in September which I am anxious to take part in. Can anyone tell me how long do I have to wait to start my normal fitness routine again or to even compete?
Thanks,
