AVN of the wrist

Hello. I am a 26 year old female that has been diagnosed with AVN of the scafoid in my left wrist. I have had a surgery to try and repair the blood loss, but that did not help. The bone keeps getting worse. My doctor is trying to find another doctor to try some other surgical procedure on me, but has found no one yet. So, I have been waiting for 2 and 1/2 months in PAIN and waiting. I was wondering what the risks are for letting a wrist with AVN left untreated? Am I at higher risks for fractures? I just need some more info on what I am dealing with and how serious treatment is. I appreciate any insights. Thanks!
