Torn ACL

Any ideas for exercises at home before physical therapy begins? I've found a few on this website. How long does it usually take to get off the crutches? I'm very apprehensive about putting any weight on the knee.

i would recommend quad

i would recommend quad strengthening exercises such as straight leg lifts with the quad mechanism tightened. i would also recommend beginning flexion because they are gunna do that at PT and it is gunna be torture. do not forget about keeping full extension as well.most people keep there leg at about 15-20 degrees of flexion because it is the most comfortable. long periods of that can develop a flexion contracture and u do not want that. and last but not least. buy some paper cups and freeze them almost full. then u can peel the paper off and still have a handle for an ice massage (approx 20 mins.) it is the best after exercise.
