Left Hip FAI + Labral Tears & Inflamed Bursa..
7 Weeks post of for keyhole surgery - 1 x labral tear burnt off 1 x labral tear repaired - FAI not able to be addressed with keyhole.
I saw my specialist in Christchurch on Monday for my second post of checkup. My muscles have recovered enough from the surgery that I am able to walk mostly without my crutches. Still tender around the incisions and still have quite a bit of post surgery swelling round the hip/thigh area.
Suffering from intense joint pain still - any turning of the joint in the socket & it causes a sharp pain, sitting upright is still not possible for longer than 5 minutes as the pressure on the joint is too much and causes pain. To me I have seen no improvement in the post op joint pain. Can't tell if the bursa is beginning to heal/settle down yet as it's too swollen round the area.
My specialist said he is not concerned at the level I am at currently as I am unable to take any type of anti-imflam medication this has slowed my recovery. I am also limited on the pain medication I can take so have had more pain than a normal person would have when recovering.
Physio - I started in a local hydrotherapy pool with my physio a couple of weeks ago, 15-20mins walking, leg lifts, kicks behind & in front etc. Which was quite good as no weight bearing, until you get out of the pool... as well as 6-7 strengthening excercises to do daily. No bringing knee up to chest or close to 90oC yet - that is still way too painful.
Has anyone else only had a labral tear repaired/shaved but not had the FAI addressed also? I am curious to know if the intense joint pain I have is normal at 7 weeks post op as it hasn't lessened at all. Have not had physio since Friday but have an appointment booked today at 2pm.
My next checkup is 19 February - I have been given off fulltime work till 28 February so far. Trying my hardest to not go insane, sick of lying down, bored etc but feeling more positive this week than I have been feeling.. read my blog for how this hip injury started, would love to hear from anyone with similar problems :)
