I am 56 years old and in generally good health except for my left ankle began to swell about 2 years ago on and off. This past 6 to 7 months my ankle has swollen to half a golf ball size, not much pain just more of a burning ache feeling. I am able to rotate counter clock-wise with no pain but loud popping/cracking sounds and again with just a burning feeling. Now the swelling is constant and I have begun to feel the same burning ache pain in my left knee. The knee has started to swell a little. I have been to an orthopedic MD who took x-rays and then an MRI. The X-rays show nothing the MRI showed inflammation in all the ankle joints. MD suggested NASID and put ankle in stabilizing boot for 8 weeks with not much improvement. The swelling went down but returned once out of the boot. He said he could not help me but to see an ankle specialist in his office if there is no improvement in two weeks.
Have not seen specialist yet. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
