I have pain in my right hip, lower back pain and numbness in my left leg. Originally a bursae showed up on the MRI of my right hip. Nothing else. Some degenerative disk disease shows on the MRI on L3 and L5. Nothing at all shows up on my left hip. Solid bone throughout. Four months later when the pain in my right hip went from uncomfortable to excruciating the doctor ordered a second set of MRIs and X Rays. This time there is a lesion on the femoral head that wasn't these before the steroid injection. Steroid injection helped for about two weeks. Then the REAL pain started and has increased on a daily basis. I am at a 10 nearly all the time. What would cause this sudden onset of AVN? Also why doesn't it show up on the bone scan? Please...amyone..help? My doctor is baffled and I amwilling to listen to any suggestions at this point, before they go and replace my hip.
