Tore Subscapularis tendon while surfing..Surgeon wants to reattach my bicep and lower it a bit!

A few weeks ago I tore my subscapularis tendon while surfing in La Jolla, San Diego. The wave crashed down on me and sent me diving forward. This is when the entire weight of the wave crashed down on my shoulder. As I penetrated underwater, I was in intense pain.
Today the Doc told me that he might have to cut my bicep and reattach it lower, so it is not in the way of the subscapularis tendon. He says that this will prevent the bicep from destroying the new tendon repair!

Is this a common procedure?
What's your advice to be 100% again?
Do I need the bicep reattached lower to avoid the tendon?

I am a very active, 39 yr. old surfer and have been injured many times, but this seems far worse than my ACL tear in 2005!

Thank you very much!
