Ankle snapping when my 6 year old walks
My 6 year old's ankle continually makes a snapping/clicking sound everytime she walks. Her Dr says it's nothing to worry about if it doesn't hurt her, which it doesn't but I've never heard anyone else's ankle/ligament do this and other kids always ask her why that sound is happening, she seems a little self contious of it now. Has anyone ever heard of this before or know why this would be occurring? She didn't have any injury to her ankles that I know of and it's something that has occurred within the last year or year and a half, her ankles didn't used to make that sound. It is both ankles. Please help!

it sounds like the snapping could just be the peroneal tendons snapping over each other. I have had that problem my entire life. The only time you start to worry is if the tendons are actually popping out of the groove they are supposed to be in. This would also be a more painful condition. Snapping without pain can occurr in the ankle and in the hip, when the tendons either snap over another tendon or over a bony promenence. If it not painful it is not too much of a problem. If you are concerned, you can seek out an orthopedist for a second opinion.
