Hand pain after cervical fusion

I had a cervical fusion at C5/C6 two weeks ago. I had spinal cord compression that was affecting my left arm and had mild nerve damage on the left side. After surgery I woke up in recovery with severe pain in my right hand (mostly in the web between by index and thumb). It has lessened a lot in severity but is still sore and very tender to the touch in that area. This morning I felt electrical impulses going through my middle, index fingers and thumb. It lasted a couple of minutes. It was not tingling but more like electrical current. Is this common and do you think it will continue to improve? Is there anything that will help it heal quicker and should I see a neurologist? A neurosurgeon did the surgery at the Medical Center in Houston. He doesn't seem to be concerned about the hand.
