About 10 years ago, I tore the lateral meniscus in my knee. Because both of my knees are now bothering me, I went to see my doctor. The X-ray showed arthritis in both knees. How can this be?

The meniscus or cartilage in the knee can be damaged from an injury or from the wear and tear of use and age. You may be seeing the result of trauma in one knee and the effects of degeneration in the other.
