Scaphoid Fracture, Now Wrist Feels Tight?
I broke my scaphoid at the beginning of November. I wore a cast for 6-9 weeks, then I got a brace for about another 4 weeks. When they first took the cast off, my arm felt really strange and "tingly." I felt like I couldn't use my hand and my arm was really skinny. This was my first cast and I'm 30 years old. Now I went back to the doctor about a week ago and he did more x-rays and said he can't even see where the fracture was. I told him my wrist felt really tight like I couldn't really move it in the full range of motion as I can my other wrist, and that it was really tender feeling. He said that was normal, and that it could be like that for up to a year. I'm trying to get back into my workout routine now, and I can't bend my wrist to do push ups, I got down on my hands to do some push ups and it ain't happening! It looks as if there is a bump across the top of my wrist that isn't there on the other wrist. Is that normal? I hadn't noticed it before so I never said anything to the doc about it. Does anyone know what I should do about this? I ended up doing my push ups on my fists and that was ok, but I want the full range of motion back in my wrist. It feels like my wrist is just going to give out on me at times. I was tempted to go lift weights, but the way it feels like it is going to give out on me I decided that wasn't a good idea. Is this normal or should I call the doctor? Is there some kind of therapy I should be doing to get that motion back? If anyone can help, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks!
