My 3 yrs. old dughter suffered an elicoidal femur shaft fracture on her right leg - Nov 11th '08 - her cast was just removed on Jan 14th '09 and her leg is a little less than an inch shorter than the other; based on diagnosis of initial X-Ray she didn't need surgery and her thight was subjected to a reduction process by hand, right after that the cast was applied. One can see on current X-ray that femur heeled but not straight, it is bow. Dr. is telling us that this is normal, that the heeling process of the bone itself is still in process, the bone callius will keep developing in a manner that the bow shape will desappear and in that process the leg will grow back to same length as the other (6-8 months). The kid is re-learning to walk, she doesn't complaint but we're worry. Please give us some advice or share experiences that could help us understand better and be confident that she is fine and that it's a matter of recovery therapy and time before she gets to walk totally normal.
