old sprain
My daughter sprained her ankle 13 months ago. She's a cheerleader and got back to cheering as soon as she was able. She's been competing this year and her ankle hurts almost constantly. The sprain had healed but is giving her constant problems now. She can bear weight on it, flies and tumbles on it, but it is giving her problems after practice and competitions. The ligament below the inner ankle bone is protruding out farther than on the other foot. What is the best course of action with this? Should we pull the plug on competing immediately or let her finish the season, with the ankle heavily wrapped? Is surgery in her future? Immediate or can it wait?
