Swolllen foot

I recently had lung surgery (15 days ago). About seven days after surgery, while in the hospital bed bound, my right foot started hurting. I had plantar facitis in the past and thought the problem was from not wearing shoes for the past 7 days. I was in bed for a total of 11 days with restricted movement. The day after I left the hospital the bottom of my right foot swelled and I can barely walk on it. I tried foot massage and a cold pack but neither helped. I currently have an ace bandage to see if restriction helps. I'm assuming the problem is inflamation. My question is: what caused the inflamation if I was not walking on my foot? Could there be any connection between my right lobe re-section and the swelling in my right foot?

Be VERY careful with this.

Be VERY careful with this. I would see your doctor ASAP. This could possibly be a sign of a DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis). Basically this is a blood clot in the leg. I would hold off from any massage to that area as well as the leg before seeing your physician.

This could very well be just swelling, but anytime you are bed ridden for that amount of time you need to be careful with any swelling and/or bruising in the legs and feet.
