10 Year Anniversary

I never imangined making it this far. When I was 18 and in a lot of pain and just praying for a miracle, I really never thought 10 years down the road. Well, here I am. My hip fusion was a total sucess ( which is what my mom believes is our miracle). I have very little to no pain in my right hip but I am so frustrated with the constrictions of one hip joint.

Please see my Orthopod Blog mommy2mygirls

I have a fused hip and I am currently seeking alternative options to fusion.

I am keeping record of this journey at http://www.eorthopod.com/public/user/2135
user name mommy2mygirls.

I am hoping I can help others in my same situation or someone else can help me out of my situation :)

I am 28 and have had a fused hip for 10 years and I would like a THR.

Still Hoping for a HIP :)

I have become more computer savvy, but not a better speller. I was able to find a few, and I mean just a few, more people out there who have fused hips and are hoping against all hope that they will get a THR. I am in the same boat still.

I made an appointment with a new Ortho Doc in Flint, DR Walters. It is not until Oct 24th but I think of it daily. I wonder if he will say there is someting for me or tell me to wait 30 more years or until the pain takes over or my joints give out. We shall see.

Adhesive Capsulitis... winged scapula

I developed left adhesive capsulitis which "froze" Dec 2007. I believe this resulted from developing a posture of perpetually elevating both of my shoulders at a workstation that was set up too high and working without arm supports. I have used 3 types of anti inflamm's and attended physio Jan - June. After a few months I began to get the natural swing back in the left arm and had some improvement in range. End of May it was approx 0 degrees ER at side; 30 ABD and 70 Flex.

thumb fusion surgery

I am having surgery in about 2 1/2 hours and am very worried about it. I have never had a cast on before. That is what bothers me the most. Will let everyone know how things go.

contact me

if anyone wants to talk about tarsal coalition, you can contact me at shutterbug112@yahoo.com. please put "tarsal coalition" in the subject line though or your e-mail will probably get deleted as spam.

i've had 2 surgeries and nearly everything there is with this. 24 and living (almost) pain free... stinkin' arthritis. but that only flares when it rains a lot of the temperature yoyos up and down. :)

Cervical pain and Spine Stimulators

I would like to have some input about SCS's and cervical pain.

Full thickness tear subscapularis and dislocated bicep repair

I just had arthroscopic surgery to fix the above mentioned injury.

Wondering if anyone in here or someone reading this has happened to them or similar. Interested in recovery time - I've read so much online I don't know what to believe, but at the same understand that there are many factors that effect that: age, length of time of injury before surgery, etc.

anke problems

My 16 yr old daughter dances and gets a sore ankle with swelling then a weird bruising that comes after the swelling and is a huge round circle around the ankle.
The ankle is weak but recovers after about a week then happens again over and over. The first time it happened she was at dance and sat on the floor for a rest and sat indian style. She said she leaned on ankle and it started. But now it allways happens only at dance.

Steriods

Can anyone tell me if steriod injections have side effects such as headache and nausea?

REMOVAL OF HARDWARE FROM ANKLE SURGERY

I broke my ankle in July 2006 and had surgery for a trimalleolar fracture. It has been over 2 yrs. and I still have swelling and pain and cannot work as I cannot stand or walk on my ankle for more than 2 hrs. I have to constantly raise the ankle to stop the swelling. My doctor said I could have the hardware removed but I would have to go through another major surgery and be non weight-bearing again for over 2 mos. He also informed me that taking out the hardware may not make any improvement in my walking and standing ability.

Is surgery the only answer for PTT?

Used to be a runner (high school), recently started racewalking and running--with very good shoes. Initial irritation started the end of May 2008. Finally broke down and went to see PM&R Sports Med. doc. No fracture seen so they did an MRI. Shows severe tendonosis of the posterior tibial tendon with a small tear to the tendon at the navicular insertion. Lots of swelling and some fluid. He injected the capsule w/steroids, taped me and fitted me with some over the counter orthotics. Told me to try not to walk on it much, don't ride your horse and no running etc.

knee locking up

My knee has been locking up and it sends a pain down the backside of my knee into the middle of my calve muscle. what could it be?

torn ligament/neuroma

If anyone has any similar problems and can advise on the length of time to heal that would be appreciated.
I had surgery May 23, 2008 for a torn ligament which is kind of at the top of the foot, it is underneath another ligament. I also had a neuroma which is near the 3rd and 4th toes.
The doctor put some sort of "anchor" from the ligament to the ankle, and for the neuroma problem he cut the tendon in that area.
