Volar plate injury

I'm 16 and over a year ago I tore my volar plate. They don't want to do surgery because they say it won't help. They don't want to use the dorsal blocking splint because I have the boutonniere deformity. I went to physical therapy for awhile but it didn't help. The doc has no more ideas. Also a couple weeks ago my pinky popped at that middle joint and now there is a hard and swollen bump on the outside on top of the joint. The pain is so bad it wakes me up from a sound sleep at night. Any ideas on what the bump could be and how to treat the injury would be appreciated.
