Dealing with a cast.

I have had a back cast all week after a scaffold fall. No pain or discomfort with the back cast all week.

But yesterday I had a full cast put on to my knee.

I repeat, I had no pain till this happened .

Now I have shooting pains up my whole leg and my toes have gone purple.

My foot was also cast at a 90 degree angle . Which is far from comfortable.

Last night it got so bad. I got out the tin snips and cut the cast right down the side. I could not bare it anymore.

Now I have room in the cast. No more pain .

I have to go back in today to get it redone. I cant see any advantage to being strapped up so tight . really . I know it going to end up in an argument with the nurse.

Im not a doctor or nurse. But I have had the advantage of having this leg stuck to my body for 34 years. I know what feels wrong.

Really. for a small fracture on the heal bone. Why does it have to be immobilized so well? whats wrong with a little space in these casts.?

Im not letting them put a tight one on. I just cant deal with the claustrophobic feel of it. Its very distressing for me.
