de Quervain's syndrome

Dear All,

i have been diagnosed with de Quervain's syndrome (over use of the wrist) recently. As treatment, I have received an anti-inflamatory injection (steroid) and i am wearing a spica splint to immobilize the wrist for one month.

They also proposed me to have a surgery which is the fastest way to cure the problem but to me surgery would be the last resort, and its not because of money. I am searching for more information on this problem and i would be please to know if there are people out there who had the same problem and find remedy without having any surgery. The doctor told me that for total recovery, it will usually take six months to one year, with regular physio sessions.

I would be please if you can share your experience with me. Is there a total cure for de Quervain's syndrome without surgery? Does it really take that long to recover? Please let me know. Thank you so much for your answer, any info will be helpful.

Yours

Celio
