I have heard that chiropractic treatment is quakery but yet know of several people who have found it helpful.

According to the new low back pain treatment guidelines, spinal manipulation has a fair level of evidence with small to moderate benefit for acute low back pain, good level of evidence with moderate benefit for sub-acute and chronic low back pain.
