Flights

The adventure begins...

Eventually, we will simply send the corporate jet to pick you up and deliver you to Missoula. In the meantime, you probably are best served by choosing one of the airlines that serves Missoula International Airport (MSO). The best connections are provided by Delta, Northwest Airlines, Alaska Airlines and United Airlines. Missoula is a college town, so beware the traditional vacation times of spring break, Christmas and Thanksgiving. Missoula is also a tourist destination in the summer months and flights can be crowded.

Winter is also sometimes foggy in the Missoula Valley and flights can be delayed or canceled due to visibility issues. This can result in unexpected layovers in the hub cities for each airline: Salt Lake City (Delta Airlines), Denver (United Airlines), Seattle (Alaska Airlines) and Minneapolis (Northwest Airlines). It is better to try and arrive and depart as early in the day during the winter months. In summer, late evening arrivals are fine. Days are long in Montana during the summer months and it remains light until 10:30PM.

Lodging

DoubleTree Edgewater Hotel

The DoubleTree Edgewater is our first choice for lodging in Missoula. This hotel sits right on the bank of the Clark Fork River. We will reserve you a "Riverview" room where you can sit and watch flyfishermen fish immediately below where the Rattlesnake Creek joins the Clark Fork. There is a deck for dinning over the river in the warmer months.

The DoubleTree has an excellent restaurant and bar. You have immediate access to the River Trail for walking, running or biking along the Clark Fork and it is only one half mile into the downtown area where there is additional dinning and nightlife. Walk across the footbridge next to the hotel and you are on the campus of the University of Montana.

Holiday Inn

The Holiday Inn is just several hundred yards downstream from the DoubleTree and is our second choice for accommodations. This hotel is also on the water, but has a large grassy lawn that separates the hotel from the river. Sorry, no fishing from your room on this one. This hotel is also on the River Trail and provides easy access to downtown and the University campus on foot or bike.

Hilton Garden Inn

The Hilton Garden Inn is our backup in case everything else is full. This is the newest hotel in Missoula and is located about three miles from downtown in the burgeoning North Reserve area. This is where you'll find the big box stores, Interstate 90 and the airport. Very nice accommodations complete with a convention center, nice restaurant and view - but no Clark Fork River, downtown scene or walk on access to the University. If you're all business, the Hilton is for you.

Transportation

We will arrange to pick you up at the airport, deliver you to your hotel and provide you with transportation while you are in Missoula. If you wish to be a bit more independent or to extend your stay to recreate, feel free to rent a car. Most of the major car rental agencies are available at the Missoula Airport (MSO).

If you are staying in the downtown hotels, you will be within walking distance of many good restaurants and entertainment. Taxi service is available and both hotels have shuttle service to and from the airport. The Mountain Line bus service is excellent. Biking in Missoula is both safe and pleasant. If you wish to use a bike while you are here, let us know and we will arrange a bike rental.
